the Visionary Report (inaugural post)

Over and over we are so-called "educated" to believe in and trust a Certain Way Of Doing Things. Chomsky sheds light on this "good education" a little, and decolonizing indigenous folks shed much more light.

You read things like "Just Leave Us Alone!" by a Papua New Guinea tribesman, and you begin to see that there is more to the picture than what has been systematically presented to all of us living uncritically within colonial societies.

That is a first step. A little Chomsky (whatever incites you), then a good dose of pre-and de-colonizing indigenous folks' ways of seeing. The next step is to see how these truths affect you on a personal, day-to-day basis. How are you colonized (i.e. kept reduced from your original intent to truly live)? In what ways are you and yours affected by this reducing of who we are?

The next step after beginning to basically see these truths is to perhaps play more; that is, create yourself and your life (including at work) how you would LIKE to live. And to go through and beyond the belief that such things are "impossible".
This is *the* innaugaration of "the visionary report", a report whose author(s) wish to inspire people, in a regularly appearing way, beyond the same old again and towards evolutionary meaning and living in this world.

thousand babies are born with anatomy that doesn't clearly mark them as
either male or female - with what is known as an intersex condition?
Join us for a screening and discussion of the provocative documentary,
One in 2000, that demystifies the issue of sexual difference.
Interweaving personal stories with educational films from the 1950's,
One in 2000 invites us to take a serious second look at how the media
have dealt with sexual "normality." Join us after the film for a
discussion and Q & A with film maker Ajae Clearway and intersex
activist Caitlin Childs.

Births of Babies in Unlikely Places -- Or the Grinch Who Impeded

Births of Babies in Unlikely Places --
Or the Grinch Who Impeded
Gay/Lesbian Equality

During this winter solstice time in America some of you will consider again the birth of babies in unlikely places, such as a particular middle-eastern stable during the Roman era approximately 2,000 years ago. And while reading about the 2007 Sissy Awards at www.advocate.com I got to thinking about another unlikely birth place, a particular lesbian womb of the early 21st century.
People's Movement Assembly

Start: 01/26/2008 - 8:00pm

End: 01/26/2008 - 8:59pm

On Saturday, Jan. 26, 2008, there will be global actions against injustice
in response to a call by the World Social Forum for the peoples of the world
to act in unison against war, poverty, exploitation, and environmental
degradation.

Atlanta, host city of the first US Social Forum, will be the
venue for a statewide People's Movement Assembly, beginning with a
caravan and rally at the state capitol.

Initiated by the organizers of the
annual Poor People's Day events at the
Capitol and inspired by 2008 being
the 40th anniversary of the historic Poor
People's Campaign for Economic
Justice launched by Dr. King, this multi-pronged
effort seeks to bring the
voice, aspirations, needs and demands of millions
of working and poor people
to the Georgia Capitol.

Following the caravan and rally, participants will
meet to exchange views,
plan ongoing actions and cement relationships and
networks.
Hundreds of volunteers are needed throughout the state to mobilize
their
communities.
